Civic Fellowship
The Hyphen Resource Center (HRC) and the Playground at Habib University are excited to announce the launch of the Civic Fellowship, an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students across Pakistan to engage and work towards bringing social change.
This eight-month-long fellowship is designed to empower the youth of Pakistan to reimagine a better future.
It includes addressing critical issues and developing interventions within three board themes: Education, Health, and Climate Change. The three main goals of this civic fellowship are: to better understand the nuances of social issues in Pakistan; to engage with the stakeholders to develop a plan of action; and to execute the plan and reflect on its impact.
Fellows are encouraged to develop sustainable, low-cost initiatives, and establish Civic Chapters at their universities to serve as hubs for ongoing engagement beyond the fellowship period.
Program Overview:
The fellowship is structured in three phases:
Awareness
During the first phase of the fellowship, fellows will participate in hybrid workshops led by experts in their chosen area of focus, developing a better understanding of their chosen area. Additional capacity-building workshops will focus on both technical and non-technical skills.
Stakeholder Engagement
In the second phase, fellows will engage with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive and actionable plans for their projects. This phase will conclude with a development conference where fellows will get the opportunity to share their project ideas, and experts will provide feedback to help refine the projects.
Implementation
In the last phase, fellows will implement their projects, engaging in exploratory or pilot interventions. In addition, they will also engage in an evaluation of the intervention to explore how successful it was, and reflect on the entire journey. In the end, the fellows will draft a final report documenting the project.
What you will gain:
Deeper understanding of social issues through expert-led sessions
Skill development through hybrid workshops
Networking with like-minded individuals passionate about social change
Engagement with experts and practitioners from your chosen focal area
Experience of developing and executing a pilot intervention
Certificate of completion upon successful completion of the fellowship
